New Toys Brighten Babies’ Stay At WMMC

The Gonzales Family visited their 24-week baby boy in the NICU. Baby Gonzales received a “Symphony-In-Motion” mobile, which provided comfort and amusement to the baby and his family.

A hospital can be a frightening and lonely place for a sick baby. That’s why the family of an infant boy named Charles Shedd Webster started Charlie’s Buddies in 2001 in memory of their young son “Charlie.” A non-profit organization, Charlie’s Buddies focuses on bringing happiness and comfort to infants who are hospitalized in the NICU by donating brightly colored toys to hospitals in the Los Angeles area.

Thanks to the efforts of the Lactation Team, WMMC has received a donation of toys from Charlie’s Buddies that amounts to $1,500. The toys received are the “Symphony-In-Motion” mobile and “Wonder Pals” for hands and feet. A company called Tiny Love makes both toys. And, this is the first in a series of donations that the hospital will receive. WMMC would like to extend a big thank you to Charlie’s Buddies for its donation to our NICU.

“We are grateful to Charlie’s Buddies for its generous donation,” said Helen Jurado, Lactation Consultant. “The toys will definitely bring our patients joy and fun during their stay at White Memorial.”
